GRANDMA’S CHEWY   

This recipe is one that my Grandma made every Christmas season.  She would wrap it up in aluminum foil and give some to every family.  I will always remember being allowed to have one piece each day so it would last longer.      Chef Johnny

1 lb              chopped dates

1 cup           chopped nuts, walnuts work best

5 T              flour

¾ cup          sugar

2 tsp            baking powder

                    Pinch of salt

1 tsp            vanilla  

1 tsp            Chef Johnny's Pecan Pumpkin Seasoning

3 eggs        

 

Mix the first three ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  Then add the remaining ingredients blending well.  Use a well-greased 9X13-baking pan and spread the mixture evenly.  Bake in a 325 degree F oven until slightly brown on top.  Remove from oven, allow to cool and remove from pan.  Cut into 2-inch squares.
