They say time is money and it's true: you can save a lot of money if you spend a little time. You'd pay $4 per slice if you ordered this almond torte at a fancy restaurant. This great dessert takes less than an hour to whip up in the kitchen and costs about $4 to make the whole thing...

| Shell: | |
| 1/2 cup | Flour |
| 1 1/2 T. | sugar |
| 3/4 stick | butter |
| 2 | egg yolks |
| Filling: | |
| 1 cup | heavy cream |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 1 cup | sliced almonds |
| 1/4 tsp. | almond extract |
Combine flour, sugar and butter in food processor until it looks like coarse meal. Add yolks and mix until they're completely combined. Press into 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom. Bake 10 minutes at 325 degrees. Meanwhile, prepare filling. Combine cream, sugar and salt. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Simmer over medium-low heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add almonds and almond extract. Pour into crust and bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
Serve with raspberry sauce. Or with warm chocolate sauce -- my favorite!!
